Life’s a Beach Event Saturday 5th May 2012
Many of you enjoyed the Party on the Pier event last March where we teamed
up with the Silly Army for a competition
of silly games on the Pier. Well as part
of Life’s a Beach event this Saturday
silly games are returning to the Pier!
Art on the Beach Saturday 5th May
Art on the Pier Satuday 5th May
We know how popular the artists are
who exhibit on Sundays throughout the
year, so along with the games on the
Pier we hope that the sun will shine and
our local artists will again be displaying
their works.
Pier of Year 2010
Boscombe was voted Pier of the Year for 2010 by the National Piers Society?
“Winning the Pier of the Year award is a great honour and everyone involved in the pier’s restoration, reopening and the events held on it since can feel very proud.”

Kiosks
The Kiosks include a café with outdoor and indoor seating, an ice cream parlour, takeaway and shop that importantly carries newspapers. Opened in March 2011 they completed the regeneration of the land based elements of the Boscombe Spa Project.
What better place can there be to enjoy your cuppa or ice cream than under the shade or shelter of the iconic windbreak
More details of the services are available on their website:

Inspieration
Inspieration - the Friends of Boscombe Pier was officially formed in September 2008 following the ratification of the constitution
at the first open meeting held at The Chine Hotel.
Since then we have successfully offered support to grant applications for the sea front,
and worked with the council to help represent resident's views. We are activley promoting the pier and it's surroundings as space for artistic and cultural events.
With ever increasing interest in Boscombe seafront and with the development of the
surf reef our membership is continuing to grow.

The Art
We are committed to developing the Pier as a venue for Artists to display their work. We hope to see more success stories like local craftsman Wayne Willets, who was inspired to create a range of mirrors with a surfing theme. Thank you to Wayne for featuring the Pier on his website
www.surfmirrors.com .
To enquire about exhibiting your work on the Pier contact Linda Hiles
linda.hiles@bournemouth.gov.uk, or drop into the Boscombe Sea Front Services office just past the Harvester on the sea front.
The Surf
The Pier is an excellent vantage point for viewing the Surfing up close.
Following the launch of the Reef on the 2nd November 2009 the reef was damaged last winter (2010/11) and is still currently out of use.
The RNLI have to be commended for providing life gard cover through the winter.
Sorted Surf Shop run several surfing and Stand Up Paddleboarding related events. Attracting spectators and photographers to the pier
